There could be a number of reasons why your smartcard isn't working. If your smartcard does not allow you to print but allows access to the necessary rooms and buildings then you will need to associate your smartcard with your University registration number (userid), which you can do by scanning your smartcard on a printer and typing in your University userid and password. Once you have done this your smartcard should work automatically.
If your smartcard does not allow access to buildings/rooms nor allow you to print, this may be due to a dead chip in the smartcard or it may have expired. Please visit an Ask4Help point at either City Campus or Coach Lane Campus Library and a member of staff will assist you further. Please bear in mind that if your smartcard has been overly damaged without due care then you may be liable to pay a £10 replacement cost.
