How do I renew my Library books?

If you are a Northumbria student or a member of staff then any four week and 7-day loan items you borrow will automatically renew for up to 1 year, unless they are requested by another reader, or if there is another block on your account, such as other overdue books or fines of more than £20.

You won't receive an email notification that the renewal has taken place, but if you have to return an item because it has been requested or is at the end of its maximum loan period, then we will send you email telling you the date it is due back. This message will be sent three days before the book is due back, with a reminder sent out on the day it is due back.

All email notifications are sent to your University email account.

For all other customers, your books won't automatically renew but they can be renewed for up to a total of 1 year. You can do this via your account in Library Search, where you can see what items you have on loan and the dates that they are due back. You can also contact Ask4Help, telephone 0191 227 4646, to ask that them to renew books on your behalf.
