A list of all electronic journals available from the University Library is available via Library Search by using the A-Z ejournals link which appears below the Library Search search bar. You can also access electronic journals via Library Search by searching for the title you require. If the University has a subscription to the journal, the title will appear in the search results.
While you are on campus, most journals can be accessed without user identification, however, some journals require user IDs and passwords, whether you are on or off-campus. If you are prompted for a user ID and password, you will usually use your University log in credentials. Exceptions are listed in a Password list; a link to the list appears below the Library Search search bar. Resources requiring user IDs and passwords for access generally do not require any further action.
However, when off campus or when using your own device, you may need to use Simply Web as many journals are accessed via IP recognition only. Simply Web replicates the student desktop on your device and allows you to access resources as though you were on campus. Instructions on how to access Simply Web and launch the student desktop can be found here. If you have any difficulties in doing so please contact IT Services on 0191 227 4242 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please be aware that in some cases you may need to select a link to activate the login box which will accept your University credentials. This may be indicated by "UK Federation", "Shibboleth", "Institutional Login" or "Log in at your home organisation". You may then see a WAYF (Where Are You From?) drop-down list from which you can choose Northumbria University.
