We recommend that you change your password regularly - the one you receive at enrolment will not be secure or easily remembered. You can change your password as many times as you like, however you will be prevented from re-using any of your previous 5 passwords.

How you change your password depends on where you are:

On campus - PC

  • From your desktop, press the keyboard keys Ctrl - Alt - Del at the same time. This will bring up a Windows Security box in which you will see the option to Change Password.
  • Enter your current password then the one you wish to change to and click OK. This change will take effect immediately.

On Campus - Mac

  • Go to System Preferences > Accounts (User Accounts) > Change Password
  • Follow the on screen steps to change your password

If this function is not available on your university computer, you can change your password via Simply Web.

From the main Simply Web screen (before opening the Staff/Student Desktop):

  • Click on the menu showing your name at the top right hand corner of the screen
  • Select Change a password
  • The system will advise that you will need to logoff and on again for the password to change effect, if you have nothing important open/have saved your work click Continue
  • Enter your old/current password
  • Enter a new password, entering it a second time to confirm
  • Click OK to set the new password.

From within the Staff/Student Desktop:

  • Click on the black menu bar at the top centre of the screen
  • Select Ctrl + Alt + Del
  • Select Change a password
  • Enter your old/current password
  • Enter a new password, entering it a second time to confirm
  • Click OK to set the new password.

If you do not know or you have forgotten your password, please contact the IT Helpline, available 24/7, on 0191 227 4242 and they should be able to reset it for you.
